Ontario Steelheaders fall derby was another great success, while it was a gorgeous day the fishing could have been a bit better. There was a big turnout and it was great to see all the new faces.

Continue reading “Great Lakes Basin Report September, 2024”On Saturday August 24th the park hosted the first multi club BBQ. The event was a success with good food and many laughs. It has been decided to make this an annual event and to name it “The Kirk Lund Memorial BBQ”. Everybody is encouraged to attend this annual event as it provides a chance to connect and reconnect with old and new friends, it was a lot of fun.
On August 21, 2024 we lost Kirk Lund who passed while at Ontario Steelheaders Park. Kirk has made significant contributions since the very early days of the Ontario Steelheaders and their efforts to improve the fishery. He was an excellent fisherman, conservationist, volunteer and all around good guy who was always ready to lend a hand, he had a prominent presence at the park. Kirk suffered two strokes but still fished the river as much as he could. Kirk, you will be sadly missed. There will be a memorial for Kirk and everybody will be advised here and on the Facebook page.
